CREST FURNITURE RECLAIM hosted a visit from a Welsh Government Minister on Thursday, August 6.
The Colwyn Bay Furniture Reuse shop welcomed Lesley Griffiths AM, Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty to the Douglas Road site.
The Minister toured the furniture and electrical warehouse and was keen to find out more about furniture reuse and the impact that social enterprise has on the communities that it supports.
Crest Furniture Reclaim is run by award winning North Wales social enterprise Crest Co-operative.
Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty, Lesley Griffiths said: “I am pleased to visit Crest Furniture Reclaim to see first hand the work being delivered which is providing and supporting work opportunities to assist individuals back into the work place including those with learning and physical disabilities across Conwy and Denbighshire.
“The variety of Crest Co-operative projects are playing an important role in supporting the Welsh Government’s commitment to tackling poverty.”
Earlier this year Crest Furniture Reclaim was refurbished after having a £35,000 funding boost from Cyfenter. The furniture warehouse was given a new lease of life following work to the building exterior, roof and internal refurbishment.
Last year 684 people in the Conwy county took part in back to work and community payback placements at Crest Co-operative. The co-operative supported 30 adults with learning disabilities, who all have permanent work placements at Crest. The team collected 8, 258 items of furniture from Conwy homes, to resell in three Crest community shops.
