Crest welcomes New voluntary Directors

Crest Co-operative has appointed two new Voluntary Directors at the 2014/2015 Annual General Meeting.

Elen Rowlands and Richard Cubie will join the team of four long-serving board members.

Elen Rowlands, who is the Centre Manager at social enterprise Glasdir in Llanrwst, has vast experience in the third sector. Elen has a background in Marketing and Business Development and will bring a wealth of knowledge to her appointment as a Crest Co-operative voluntary Director.

Glasdir Business and Conference Centre provides meetings and conference facilities to public, private and third sector organisations. Elen has recently set up a new training arm to the business – Glasdir Skills Academy. The new venture provides a range of business courses at affordable prices. Richard Cubie, newly appointed Crest Co-operative voluntary Director

Richard Cubie has recently returned to North Wales from 7 years in New Zealand, where he served as:

  • The Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Alpine Community Development Trust
  • The Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Wanaka Primary School
  • Centre Manager for Montessori Children’s House in Wanaka

Before leaving Llandudno for New Zealand, Richard worked as a Strategic Developer, Policy Writer, Operational Manager and Head Teacher within Special Educational Needs services in England and Wales. Richard’s last appointment in the UK was in the School of Psychology at Bangor University.

Speaking about his new appointment as a Crest Co-operative Voluntary Director, he said: “I believe that I have the skills and experience to undertake the responsibilities of governance as a contributing member of the Board of Trustees.”
