Crest’s Supported Ability Placement Team, made up of staff, volunteers and individuals with additional learning needs have been working tirelessly over recent years to maintain and upgrades Ralph’s community Garden at Crest’s Ralph Higgins Reuse Hub on Pabo lane.
The team have been installing poly tunnels, flower bed and vegetable gardens along with planting wildflowers and saplings on the perimeter of the garden. The formerly disused land has become a bustling community garden, producing flowers and food which is then passed on through our food bank.
Having been working in partnership with Keep Wales Tidy to take the garden to the next level this beautiful space has now been awarded a coveted Green Flag!
Commenting on the news Hayley Knowles, Crest SAP manager, said:
“I am so thrilled to see our community garden gain Green Flag Status. The individuals that we support have worked so very hard to turn this space into a welcoming environment for our community but also for wildlife and insect.
“After many beautiful summer days and some wet winter ones also, I am so delighted to see all the hard work of the team being recognised in this way. To all our volunteers, staff and clients thank you for all your hard work.
“We still have big plans for this garden and want to keep working to make it bigger and better for not only the people that we support but also our entire community.”
