Gwyn Williams has recently joined Crest Co-operative as a volunteer and can be found in our shops, helping customers bring furniture to and from their cars, serving on the tills occasionally and doing any general housekeeping required. He’s mostly based in our Colwyn Bay shop so make sure you say hi to him if you’re out shopping! Here’s what he had to say about his time at Crest Co-operative!
Thanks for taking a moment of your time to speak with us and for all your help volunteering. How long have you volunteered at Crest Co-operative?
Gwyn: It’s coming up to three months now.
What’s the best thing about volunteering at Crest?
Gwyn: I like helping those in need. I care a lot about people who have disabilities and always want to make them feel welcome.
Can you describe yourself in three words?
Gwyn: Kind-hearted, helpful and… compassionate.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Gwyn: I spend time with my parents. I wash my father’s car and we take his classic cars out to shows and really enjoy polishing them up.
Do you have a favourite member of staff and/or volunteer that you like to work with?
Gwyn: I enjoy working with Barry the most. I do also enjoy working with Steve, John and Sharon.
Any funny stories inside or outside of Crest that you want to mention?
Gwyn: I’m accident prone! I came off my bike the other week and went straight to volunteering at Crest. Helping Crest is more important than taking a day off. (Editor’s note: That’s not really funny though is it??)
Last question, why do you volunteer?
Gwyn: Crest is helping me to find my “way” in life. It’s helping me find my path and plan for my next steps in life. I’m always there for anyone else who feels they need support too.
