A POPULAR pop-up community store will be helping Kinmel Bay residents to furnish their homes on a budget.
Social enterprise Crest Co-operative will be bringing a mini community store to a residential area in Kinmel Bay, for the second time. The pop-up shop will be held at Cartrefi Conwy’s Chester Avenue Community House.
The community hub and the car park will be filled with affordable furniture and refurbished electricals on Saturday March 7 from 11am until 3pm.
It is the second time that Crest Co-operative’s pop-up community shop has come to Kinmel Bay and this week tenants of housing association Cartrefi Conwy gathered outside the site to get ready for the event.
Zara Roberts, Community House Development Manager for the housing association, said: “Everyone on Chester Avenue really enjoyed the last pop-up shop Crest Co-operative did and the tenants and residents were really keen to have another one.”
Sofas, wardrobes, drawers, fridge freezers, washing machines and more, will be on offer. The event will be open to residents across the Kinmel Bay area. Cartrefi Conwy tenants will receive a 15% discount.
Crest Co-operative run three community retail stores in Colwyn Bay, Llandudno and Llandudno Junction. Crest Co-operative and Cartrefi Conwy have been working in partnership for the last five years.
Daniel Evans, Area Retail Manager for Crest Co-operative, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming Cartrefi Conwy tenants and Kinmel Bay residents to the pop-up shop.
“We will be offering an increased number of interest free payment plans in 2015 and pop-up shoppers are invited to pay over four or eight weeks. We hope that this will help Conwy residents on low incomes to buy essential furniture and electricals for their homes,” he added.
The pop-up shop will help Crest Co-operative to fund their community enterprises. The organisation works to reduce landfill through reuse, to help people in the Conwy community.
