Podback LogoPodback is a not-for-profit coffee pod recycling service. Created in partnership with the biggest names in coffee pod systems, Nespresso, NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto and Tassimo, to give people who enjoy the quality and taste of coffee pods simple and easy ways to recycle them.

Crest is working with Conwy County Borough Council and Podback, to provide this new free service, enabling you to recycle your coffee (tea and hot chocolate) pods at home. Collections will start from 26 September 2022.

How to get involved?

Sign up and order your FREE recycling bags. Visit Conwy County Borough Council

Once you have your bags, simply follow the instructions, and put them out as normal with your kerbside textiles and electricals collection OR if your live in a rural area book a collection by calling us on 01492 596783.

What types of coffee pods can be recycled?

Plastic and aluminium pods should be recycled using Podback collection bags. When you sign up on the Podback website you’ll be asked what pods you use, this is so that you can be sent the appropriate type of bag – white for aluminium pods, green for plastic pods. Your bags and full instructions will be sent to you by Podback, and you can then get started straight away!

What happens to the pods once collected?

The coffee pods you recycle with Podback are taken to specialist aluminium and plastics reprocessing plants in the UK. The coffee grounds are removed and the plastic and aluminium are then transformed into new products, including beverage cans, car components or plastic garden furniture and building products. The coffee grounds are used to create soil improver and renewable energy (biogas).

If I don’t have access to a kerbside collection service, can I still participate in the scheme?

Yes. If you live in a flat you can use the Drop Off service, which allows you to drop off filled bags to your nearest Collect+ location. Collect+ points are available 7 days a week. To order your free recycling bag visit the ways to recycle section of the Podback website
