Angeline Eastwood-Povey is one of our newer volunteers, joining us a couple of months ago. Angeline works in our Colwyn Bay shop, answering the phone calls, using the tills and does some cleaning! Here’s what she had to say about her time at Crest Co-operative!

Hi Angeline, thanks for your time today, and for continuing to volunteer at Crest. How long have you volunteered at Crest Co-operative?
Angeline: I think I joined in November, so a couple of months ago.
What’s the best thing about volunteering at Crest?
Angeline: Meeting new people and helping customers. I like being part of a team.
Can you describe yourself in three words?
Angeline: Strange, unique and… helpful? (laughs)

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Angeline: I spend a lot of time on my XBox – I’m a big gamer! I’m currently playing Resident Evil 7 – I love horror games! I love the Outlast series too. I also like to write stories – sometimes I watch news reports then put my own spin on them, pretending to be a journalist.
Do you have a favourite member of staff and/or volunteer that you like to work with?
Angeline: Steve – he encourages me a lot. My first day here he got me stuck in, doing tasks I wouldn’t normally do. He gives me a lot of support.
Any funny stories inside or outside of Crest that you want to mention?
Angeline: Nothing! (laughs)

Last question, why do you volunteer?
Angeline: I want to help people. I want to make them happy. Doing it through Crest feels like the best way to do that. I’m also challenging myself – I normally would be too scared to leave the house, I suffer with anxiety. Being at Crest has helped me to break down these barriers.
